Holy Yielding

Writer: Andrea BrownAndrea Brown

I set my pen aside in a season of stretching, unearthing, leaning, and gleaning. Life pressed in—a health challenge that resulted in healing, praise the Lord, and also a time whereby I felt the deep wounding of a friend's words. I withdrew to be restored, to find my footing, and to let love minister to me in community. In this quiet place, my voice was rekindled, and the Lord stirred within me a deeper longing—to write, proclaim, and burn anew.

This March offering is a word to those who are weary. A call to remember: life is a journey, and even in the refining fire, God is working, shaping, and forming us into the image of Christ. We are being humbled, yearning, stirred, and called—to rise from the ashes, to embrace the flame of His Spirit, and to offer ourselves wholly unto Him.

These words are for the ones who have been broken yet still breathing. For the ones who long to feast on His Word and be set ablaze by His presence. For those stripped of all that is fleeting to be clothed in all that is eternal.

Beloved, let the Spirit fan the flame within you; His grace refine you, and then, burn wildly for Him.

Holy Humbling—

Everything that has breath understands brokenness; something aches within—for everything bends beneath the weight of death.

Humanity is tender—flesh yielding like dandelion leaves to the wind.

Nature bows to the Sovereign Creator.

And Life eternal points to God.

Here—the groans of mortality

There—clothed by the immortal.

On earth, in the throws of the shadow life, a glimpse of the Light; in every the breath a reminder and taste of the Life.

“And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” —Deuteronomy 8:3.

Holy Yearning

A whisper stirs the silence—Open the Book, turn the pages, feast on Him, for every word of the LORD proves true.

The Word is steadfast and glorious.

A firm foundation for those who love Him and would be trained by it.

Woven in the pages, the Substance, the fire, and the fullness unveiled.

Though the body aches, it is a reminder that without Him the soul fades into a flicker—breath dissolved into vapor, then gone.

Holy Stirring—

When the Light is seen—the Spirit beckons us behold it, be captivated by it, lean into it and embrace His wonder.

Let the Spirit breathe upon the embers—fan the flame, feed the soul, then set the heart ablaze.

The prompting:

Burn wildly, child.

Dance. Burn. Then, dance and burn passionately.

Listen:

Fear not—you will not be consumed.

But the flames will strip away what you once trusted, the fleeting praises of men, the broken cisterns that could never hold Living Water.

A whisper:

I AM the Fourth Man in the fire, purifying from within. Removing the dross, and yet nothing will be lost—

Only the evidence of pure faith by grace shall appear.

“Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for there shall no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean. Shake yourself from the dust and arise; be seated, O Jerusalem; loose the bonds from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion.” Isaiah 52:1-2.

Holy Calling—

Rise from the ashes—for you will no longer be encumbered by the world and the spirit of the age.

Rise from the ashes, beloved—unscented by smoke, and without residue of what was.

Now a partaker of His Divine Nature

Clothed in linen,

Crowned with beauty and honor,

Made blameless, holy, and righteous.

a fragrant offering before His throne.

Holy Yielding—

Through His intercession, raised to life—

A living sacrifice, and sacred praise.

A fragrant aroma proclaiming His Name.

Through His death, awakened

eternal, yielded, aflame.

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” —John 6:63.
